VCT Floor3
Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT)
This is a finished flooring material used primarily in commercial and institutional applications. Vinyl tiles are composed of colored vinyl chips formed into solid sheets of varying thicknesses (1/8” is most common) by heat and pressure and cut into 12” squares. Tiles are applied to a smooth, leveled sub-floor using a specially formulated vinyl adhesive that remains tacky but does not completely dry. Once in place, tiles are typically waxed and buffed using materials and equipment specially formulated for this application

If the floor is damaged, you must strip and refinish the floors before allowing any more traffic through the finished area. Regain your time and money spent in stripping and repolishing. This process is necessary for protecting a floor; floors that are not properly polished are prone to damage.

These floors are designed to perform well within a broad range of temperatures and conditions. Different areas of the building such as an entryway, interior corridor, etc. may respond differently to applications and procedures. Based on the manufacturer’s guidelines as well as expected level of traffic, building managers, contractors, or others should develop a comprehensive program from installation onwards. With AFC, you can save time, labor, and money, and attain VCT flooring that appears new years after installation.
